What is You Matter Leadership Program?
You Matter is one of the first educational programs implemented as part of MJE’s efforts to stop neighborhood violence and help mothers and women alike. The program officially launched in 2013 with a vision to support women of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds suffering from trauma.
Who Do We Serve:
You Matter Leadership Program aims to help all women suffering from trauma. At MJE we understand that trauma cannot be defined in one form. Every woman experiences trauma in different ways but finding a solution to coping with the trauma experienced is the reason why You Matter exists.
How We Help Women in the Community?
You Matter empowers these women to become effective changemakers by reclaiming their identities in their community. We help restore hope and purpose to those who do not believe it is possible no matter their situation.
What We Do:
The You Matter program runs over a period 8 weeks to help mothers and women alike achieve their personal and professional goals. By implementing workshops based around Personal Development we help women regain strength and power to become exemplary women in their communities and impact change.
The You Matter program provides the tools to help you find your voice. MJE understands that knowledge is a major key to personal leadership and development. Our goal is to help you become the leader we know you can be. We support women who want to be a part of the change they would like to see in their communities.
Some may say that leaders are born not made but MJE thinks different. We believe We can develop leaders through the method of teaching, learning, and observing. We believe every woman has the ability to tap into the set of skills it takes to be a changemaker if given the right resources.
MJE’s You Matter program curriculum and courses focuses on the following areas to empower women to action
- Self-Exploration and personal development
- Community Assessment
- Action Planning
- Goal Setting
