Mother’s Day Luncheon

May 13, 2023

MJE hosted their annual Mother’s Day Luncheon on May 13, 2023, at the Faith Christian Church in Boston

Mayor Michelle Wu attended and spoke at our Luncheon. The event honored mothers who’ve lost children to senseless street violence, led by example, overcome trauma, and are consistent role models to their children and communities.

We Recognized several mothers with MJE Courage and Conviction Awards. These awards were given to women who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in advocating for the safety and well-being of children who are at risk of falling victim to street violence.

During the event, we touched upon issues of neighborhood violence in our Boston communities and how vital it is to aid and protect our mothers and families. MJE continues to provide targeted support, educational opportunities, and the opportunity to advocate for peace as a community.

Honorable guests included Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, City Councilor Julia Mejia, City Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune, State Representative Russell E. Holmes, Community Liaison William Dickerson, Mattapan Liaison Eric James, Police Commissioner and Chief of Boston Police Department Michael A. Cox, and Program Director, Trauma Response and Recovery at Boston Public Health Commissioner Mark V. Scott.
